Formal and informal meetings of the Working Group are announced in the Journal of the United Nations. The Working Group has Terms of Reference for the conduct of its work, and has adopted Options for possible actions by the Working Group (“toolkit”).

The Working Group prepares annual reports of its activities. The current Chair of the Working Group, for the period ending 31 December 2023, is Her Excellency Mrs. The Working Group comprises all 15 members of the Security Council and makes its decisions by consensus.
